Ridiculous

One of the top reasons not to follow fashion trends is that fashion can be utterly ridiculous. It's often said that catwalk trends are not meant to be worn in real life, and that they filter down to high street stores in a more wearable and diluted form. But unless you have a strong personality, why wear something that makes you look ridiculous?

UPD:

Fashion trends come and go, but that doesn’t mean you have to follow them. In fact, there are many reasons why you should not follow fashion trends. One of the top reasons is that fashion can be utterly ridiculous. It’s often said that catwalk trends are not meant to be worn in real life, and that they filter down to high street stores in a more wearable and diluted form. But unless you have a strong personality, why wear something that makes you look ridiculous?

Fashion trends can also be expensive. Many fashion trends are created by expensive designers and made from expensive materials. If you don’t have a large budget, it can be difficult to keep up with the latest trends. Additionally, many fashion trends are designed to be worn once and then discarded. This can be wasteful and damaging to the environment.

Fashion trends can also be uncomfortable. Many fashion trends are designed for the runway, not for everyday wear. High heels, tight jeans, and restrictive clothing can be uncomfortable and can even lead to health issues.

2

Individual

Is there anything more annoying than seeing several people wearing the same item you've just bought? This is a common problem when shops carry what they deem to be fashionable. The items are often so distinctive that you will easily recognise them on someone else. Avoiding fashion means that you're more likely to dress in an individual style.

UPD:

Fashion trends come and go, and what is in style one season can be out of style the next. While it can be fun to stay up to date with the latest trends, there are also plenty of good reasons to avoid them.

One of the most annoying aspects of following fashion trends is seeing other people wearing the same item you just bought. This is because many stores carry what they think is fashionable, meaning that the items are often so distinctive that you can easily recognize them on someone else. To avoid this, it's best to dress in an individual style, choosing items that reflect your own personality and preferences.

Another reason to avoid fashion trends is that they can be expensive. Many times, the items that are most fashionable are also the most expensive. This means that if you want to stay on trend, you may end up spending a lot of money on clothing that may not be in style for very long.

Fashion trends can also be impractical. Many of the items that are trendy are not necessarily practical for everyday wear. For example, a popular trend may be high heels, but if you have to walk a lot, these shoes may not be comfortable.

3

Different

By refusing to follow fashion, you will be making a statement that you are different. Your style is not dictated by magazines, designers or stores. Isn't it much more interesting to wear what you like, rather than be influenced by people who just want to make money out of you?

UPD:

Fashion trends come and go, but refusing to follow them can make a statement about who you are. You don't have to be influenced by what is popular or dictated by magazines, designers, or stores. Instead, you can take the opportunity to express yourself through your clothing choices.

It is possible to be fashionable without following trends. You can find timeless pieces that will never go out of style and create a wardrobe that will last you for years. Investing in quality pieces that you truly love will not only save you money in the long run, but you will also be able to create a unique look that is all your own.

It can also be freeing to not have to worry about keeping up with the latest trends. You can focus on what makes you feel comfortable and confident, and what fits your lifestyle. You can be creative and express yourself through your clothing choices without having to keep up with what is popular.

Fashion trends can be fun, but not following them can be liberating. You can be different and express yourself through your clothing choices, rather than being influenced by people who just want to make money off of you. Refusing to follow fashion trends can be a great way to make a statement about who you are.

Utterly Unflattering

Fashion can be deeply unflattering. Just look back at old photos of yourself and you will realise how awful you looked in the fashions of the time! The problem with fashion is that it dates very easily. So wear clothes that look good on you, regardless of whether they are "in" or not.

UPD:

Fashion trends come and go, and it can be difficult to keep up with them. However, it is important to remember that fashion should be about looking good and feeling confident in what you wear, not about following the latest trends. Unfortunately, fashion trends can be deeply unflattering. Just look back at old photos of yourself and you will realise how awful you looked in the fashions of the time! The problem with fashion is that it dates very easily, so it is important to choose clothes that look good on you, regardless of whether they are "in" or not.

When choosing clothes, it is important to consider your body type and pick items that will flatter your figure. Avoid clothes that are too tight or too baggy, as these can make you look disproportionate. Additionally, pay attention to the colours and patterns you choose. Not all colours and patterns look great on everyone, so choose wisely.

It is also important to remember that fashion trends do not always reflect the current times. Some trends are timeless and will never go out of style. Invest in quality pieces that you can mix and match to create different looks. This will ensure that your wardrobe is timeless and that you always look your best.

5

Dictated by Magazines

Magazines can be fun to read, but they can exert quite an influence on your idea of what you should be wearing. Of course, the magazines are in turn dictated to by designers, who demand substantial coverage in return for letting their clothes be featured. So enjoy reading magazines by all means, but be aware of how they manipulate readers.

UPD:

Fashion trends come and go, and it can be difficult to keep up with them all. But while it’s tempting to follow the latest trends, there are some good reasons to think twice. Magazines can be a great source of inspiration when it comes to fashion, but they can also be a source of manipulation. Designers often demand substantial coverage in exchange for featuring their clothes, and this can lead to unrealistic expectations of what you should be wearing.

In addition, many of the fashion trends that are popular today are based on what is currently available, rather than what is actually right for you. Trends come and go, but your personal style should be timeless. Instead of blindly following trends, focus on finding pieces that fit your body type and that make you feel confident.

It’s also important to remember that fashion trends are often expensive. While it’s nice to have a few trendy pieces in your wardrobe, it’s not necessary to purchase a whole new wardrobe every season. Invest in timeless pieces that you can wear for years to come.

Change

The truly irritating thing about fashion is how quickly it changes. So you may buy an item that soon becomes perceived as dated. One minute, flared pants are in … then they're out … then they're in again. How can we keep up?!

7

Not Your Style

Fashion is all very well, but if it just isn't "you," then leave it well alone! Some fashions depend very much on your size, build and personality. If something that is in fashion just doesn't work on you, pick something that does. Who cares if it is "in" or not?

8

Wait Long Enough …

… and whatever you like will come back into fashion! So if you're particularly fond of skinny jeans, don't worry if boyfriend jeans are deemed this season's style. Sooner or later (and probably sooner, in the fast-moving world of fashion), your skinny jeans will again be the latest style.

Fashion should be fun, so don't be a slave to it. You'll just end up spending lots of money to replace perfectly good clothes, and may wear items that just don't suit you. Or you'll be down because you know the latest style doesn't work for you. Never mind that - wear what is right for you. How do you feel about fashion - is it a waste of time, or do you love looking out for the latest styles?

Where Thoughts and Opinions Converge

I agree. I Only follow the ones I like such as patterns statement jewelry and sundresses :) I hate wearing jeans but love jeggings and I hardly wear pumps or peplum

You need to stop referring to "fashion" as "trend". Trends fade, fashion is forever.

This is basically trend shaming lmao. I don't follow fashion to be like everyone else, I follow fashion because it interests me. I like to see what new things and trends designers come up with and then I take pieces and make them my own. This list is what is ridiculous, not fashion.

@Rae Quigley yeah I gotta agree. It should have listed something like 'It's expensive to follow and keep up' which it can be esp if you have a family.

i am really pleased with your view

I totally agree, I find a lotta new fashion trends unrealistic mainly cuz there's not much to create anymore, designers are out of ideas so they throw in whatever they notice has not been worn before and everyone is pressured one way or the other to participate in the fashion craze. I ll d say, if our hardworking designers dont seem to have a lotta options for designs then we had better start getting creative for them by being true to our individual style
