Guess Which Colors Will Look Best with Your Skin Tone?

By Holly

Everyone looks good in different things, because we're all unique individuals. While your BFF may be stunning in a certain dress, you might look dowdy when you try stepping into it. The difference has nothing to do with your buddy being more beautiful than you are. It's all about your skin tone and body shape. You and your friend are two different people, which means you'll both look good in different things. In order to avoid dress mishaps in the future, here are the best colors for every woman's skin tone:

Fair Skin - Warm Undertones

There are two different types of fair skin. One is warm and the other is cool. You're considered warm if you have freckles and hair that is either red, golden, or any other type of super light shade. If you can describe your skin as warm, you should stick to wearing browns and greens in any shade. You can also pull off light reds like peach and rose.

2

Fair Skin - Cool Undertones

You're considered cool if you have a lack of color in your cheeks and have black or any other type of dark hair. If this describes you, you should stick to jewel tones like emerald and ruby. However, you should avoid wearing neon and black, because you don't want to wear anything too dark or too light. If you do, then it just won't mix well with your skin tone.

3

Medium Skin

If you have medium skin, you should also stick to jewel tones. Of course, you'll also look great in metallic, gray, and neon. Just avoid wearing browns, beiges, and oranges. They'll make you look more washed out than wonderful.

4

Olive Skin

If you have olive skin, you're lucky, because you can pull off practically any color. However, you'll look the best when you wear pink, orange, or cherry red. Those bright colors will brighten you up a bit.

5

Dark Skin

If you have dark skin, you'll look amazing when wearing cobalt, red, yellow, and purple. However, you should stay away from browns and blacks. It's also a good idea to avoid light blue or silver. The brighter, the better for you.

Everyone's Skin

Everyone looks good in pink, so if you're struggling to figure out which skin tone applies to you, you can feel safe wearing it. You can never really go wrong with red either, so make sure that you have a few shades of it in your closet. You'll never know when you'll need it.

No One's Skin

No matter what your skin tone is, you never want to wear an outfit that matches the color exactly. If you do, then it'll make you appear washed out. Besides, you don't want to walk around looking like you're naked. It's best to figure out what skin color you have and to wear the clothing that will look best on you. You'll feel like a fashionista in no time.

Every woman is different, so while these tips apply to most people, you might be the exception. That's why you should try on every color of the rainbow, stand in front of a mirror, and pose. You never know what will look amazing until you test it out. What color do you think looks the best on you?

The explanations of undertones are so wrong it hurts. Look at the veins in your wrist. If they look blue, you have cool skin. If they look green, you're warm.

So what about skin that is darker than olive but not considered dark?

I FREAKED OUT.... Until i read the comments! Thanks Andrea , i think ill do just that! 😄

And yes, you can definitely go wrong with red. Warm reds look awful on cool undertones and vise versa.

How about wear what makes u happy.

I think lighter colors looks good on darker skin, makes it pop! Love your melanin.

lol people with dark skin can wear every colour

I'm an olive skin, although don't have much orange or red in my wardrobe - shopping time soon methinks!

No blogs ever talk about neutral undertones.. My veins are blue-green, I am pale and I have never found a red that has suited me 😑

I know I am fair, but warm or cool?? I have dark brown hair, but my cheeks EASILY get red. My skin sometimes has a yellowish tone to it but my face is normally a little pinkish in some areas.
