Girls Guide to Easily Building a Minimalistic Yet Trendy Wardrobe ...

Most of us wear 20% of our clothes 80% of the time. When you think about that fact, you realize you’ve already got a good start on a minimalist wardrobe. The key is looking at the 20% you frequently wear and figuring out what it is that makes you wear those items over and over. Then you can fill your closet with similar pieces and weed out the purchases you don’t wear. Having a minimalist wardrobe makes getting dressed and loving what you wear a piece of cake.

Examine What Pieces You Love

Each of us has a unique style that we’re drawn to. It’s also influenced by what we need from our clothing. Do you need work clothing, school clothing or maybe a mom on the go wardrobe? It varies for each of us. Do you love cardigans, button downs or graphic tees? Knowing your style is key.

2

Figure out What Doesn’t Work for You

Just like you have a list of clothing items that never fail you, you probably have a list of those that do. Some clothing items just don’t work for you, either because you don’t like them or can’t make peace with how they look on you. For me, it’s blazers. I love them on other people! But I cannot find a way to make them look right on my frame.

3

Research the Trends of the Upcoming Season

In order to keep your minimalist wardrobe trendy, you have to keep up with the trends. Make it a point to read the trend reports of each upcoming season. You can also check out the new arrivals at your favorite stores to see what the season favs are. The trick is in wading through the trends and making a decision on which ones are right for you. You may want to pass on the fringe trend this fall but jump on the ankle boot trend.

4

Buy Only What You Love

This is a lesson I’ve learned that’s to the benefit of both my budget and my wardrobe. Only buy what you love. If you only feel so-so about the clothing item then it’s more than likely going to be one of those items that never gets worn and takes up valuable closet space. Ask yourself if you truly love a clothing item before you purchase it. Another question to ask yourself is if it’s something you’ll wear often.

5

Invest in What You Wear Most Often

What you wear most is where you should spend the majority of your clothing budget. For me, this is denim. Therefore, it’s worth it to me to buy quality jeans. The answer may be different for you and that’s okay. Put your money into the items you wear most frequently.

Choose Neutral More Often

Neutral clothing choices are very valuable. I personally love color so this is a challenge for me, but I’ve learned that neutral clothing choices mix and match wonderfully. It’s wise to consider the benefits of neutral clothing. For example, consider which you’d wear more often: black or mint trousers? For most of us, the answer is black.

7

Bring in Color through Accessories

Accessories are a wonderful way to bring color into your wardrobe. I used to feel accessories were somewhat wasteful, but I don’t any longer. I’ve learned they can change the whole look of an outfit. You can take the same clothing staples then add different accessories for a completely new look. You may even fool others into thinking you’re wearing a completely different outfit.

These are some tips to help you build a trendy minimalist wardrobe. Which do you plan on using? Do you have any advice on this subject?

Where do I follow trends? 😶

When it comes to neutral clothing, i'd buy both neutral tops and bottoms. I love color, and this lets me still in corporate color and my wardrobe but also allows me to always have something to wear. For example, most of my printed leggings are in neutral shade such as black or gray, and then I wear a colored top with them. :)

And it kills me! I need to step up my game. Even when I go out of the weekend I put on jeans with a solid color shirt when I love colorful clothes! Lol

Your not going to wear it

It's difficult for me, I work with men and I were t-shirt and baggy cargos shorts to work, to the point they tell me the can't picture me in heels or fitted clothes. Working at this job, I feel I lost my mojo with my style. I go shopping I see things like

Buy classic pieces for your wardrobe, fill in with great vintage items you love or have been in the family. They are statement pieces. Mix modern with vintage. With shoes foe totally flat or totally high. In between is too complicated. When doing a pattern buying polka dots or stripes is always an eye catcher...black and creamy white works best-It makes your teeth look whiter and is a classy sexy style. Buy accessories in colors and keep wardrobe neutral with solids.
