Weekend outfits ideas are a way to experiment with your usual looks. When it comes to weekend dressing, I like taking a more relaxed approach. The weekend is a time to shrug off work clothes, uniforms or school clothes, and have fun with fashion. Creating an ‘off duty’ look can be achieved in a range of ways. Take a look at the following outfit ideas for the weekend.
1. Satiny Runner Shorts
The whole sporty chic look is a big trend right now, and a pair of runner shorts can be a fresh and fun option for the weekend. The trick to make them seem less sporty is to team them with preppy or tailored separates. A pair of slouchy runner style shorts would look great teamed with a denim blouse, lace-up brogues, and a canvas tote.
2. Loose Blouses
Jeans and a plain t-shirt is a firm favourite when it comes to weekend outfit ideas. However, you can still look super relaxed and casual by switching your t-shirt for a loose cotton blouse. The blouse looks a little bit more polished, but still has an air of weekend playfulness about it.
3. Wide Leg Pants
Wide leg pants made from lightweight, silky fabrics are fantastic for creating an outfit with a relaxed vibe. For something really on-trend choose a pair that feature a graphic print. Team them with a basic tank top and strappy sandals for a look you can wear both during the day and at night.
4. Faded Denim
To me, nothing says lazy weekends more than faded denim. It could be a pair of worn denim jeans, a cropped vest, or workman’s style shirt. When it comes to this weekend outfit idea, just make sure whatever you choose is at the lighter end of the denim colour spectrum. For a spring-summer appropriate look, wear a faded denim vest over a flirty sundress. Finish the look off with trend-based jewellery.
5. Hi Top Sneakers
Give your feet a break on the weekends by getting around in a pair of comfy sneakers. Hi top styles are proving popular right now, and look great team with mini dresses or skinny jeans. For versatility purposes, choose a pair in a mainly neutral colourway.
6. Coloured Jeans
A lot of my outfit ideas for the weekend revolve around colour and lighter palettes. It’s a good thing for me, then, that coloured jeans are trending at the moment. As it is, jeans play a big part of many an off-duty wardrobe. A white top tucked into coloured jeans makes for a super fresh outfit.
7. Maxi Skirts
I really like the idea of creating relaxed silhouettes when it comes to weekend dressing. A maxi skirt is great for creating a fluid silhouette. Choose one in a lightweight fabric with plenty of volume and team with a fitted tank top and accessories to taste.
8. Colourful Shoes
Give your weekend look a lift with a pair of colourful shoes. From sandals to ballet flats to sneakers to heels, just make sure they’re colourful. This weekend outfit idea would make a light hearted touch to any outfit.
Nothing says ‘playful’ or ‘quirky’ more than a romper. Some may say they’re impractical, others unflattering, but if you find one that suits you and that you love then I say go for it! A longer style romper or playsuit in a fun print would look great teamed with leather sandals, a straw trilby, and small side bag.
These are just a few weekend outfit ideas you could keep in mind when you’re getting dressed next Saturday or Sunday. I find that a relaxed weekend outfit often puts me at ease and in ‘off duty’ mode. Do you have any outfit ideas for the weekend?
