I love all red carpet events but the Met Gala is probably my favorite! It's always so unique and out there and this year was no different with the "Manus x Machina -- Fashion in the Age of Technology" theme. And while I do wish that the designers had pushed the boundaries a little more, these celebrities still managed to steal the show.
Dubbed the "condom dress" by social media, this look had as many haters as it did fans. As someone rightly tweeted "I hate the dress but I love seeing her in it". I mean, trust the Queen Bee to make latex look good.
Met Gala or not, Zendaya is always willing to experiment with her look, and anyone who can pull off a bowl cut is a winner in my book.
What I loved most about the dress was that it was not metallic and it was not Balmain!
Did you know that Emma's dress was made from Newlife, a yarn made from 100% post-consumer plastic bottles, and the detailing on the bustier was made with organic silk and cotton. Now THAT is an amazing interpretation of the theme.
Lupita's dress also had sustainable components and her amazing hair was a tribute to her African heritage. LOVE!
One question, how did he move his robotic arms all evening?
While the dress itself is intriguing and stunning, what I loved best were her accessories.
Does it get any better than a light up dress?! I don't think so! Take a bow, Claire and Zac, take a bow.
I love big statement dresses. The bigger, the better, and it doesn't get any bigger than Zoe Saldana's peacock inspired gown. What a beauty!
With a theme like "Manus x Machina -- Fashion in the Age of Technology", you've got to expect metallic creations like this one. Apparently, the exotic Balmain gown made Kylie bleed. I suppose, beauty really IS pain.
Kim definitely looked like a sexy robot in this Balmain creation and while I love their coordinated style, I wish Kanye hadn't worn ripped jeans to the event.
I know you're probably thinking, "Haven't we had enough sexy robots for one day?". This is the last one I promise! I absolutely love how the gown fits her like a glove and her hair is on point.
Karlie looked oh-so-svelte in this Brandon Maxwell dress and if you're confused about her after party look, yes it's the same dress. Apparently, Brandon just snipped it and made it a mini. Ouch!
This is so cool....in a futuristic bride sort of way.
Enough with the metallic looks, bring on the feathers!
The Swarovski-studded dress was a statement in itself but top that with silver hair and you've got a show-stopping look!
Gigi looked sexy in an understated kind of way at the event but what definitely wasn't understated was her $2000 manicure! I know, right?!
So, who was your favorite at the Met Gala red carpet this year?
