1. Lana Del Rey

You know you’ve made it when you have a designer handbag named after you, and Ms Del Rey has recently been bestowed that honour by British brand Mulberry. Her style status has been boosted even further with a Vogue cover to her name and the recent revelation that she is the new face of fashion chain H&M. This songbird’s style is heavily influenced by 60s glamour, with many modern influences mixed in.

2. Florence Welch

Having enjoyed huge success with her band Florence + The Machine, Florence Welch has quickly cemented herself as one of today’s most stylish musicians. She often appears on stage and on the red carpet in ethereal gowns, be it vintage or designer. She’s appeared on the cover of Vogue magazine, performed on the catwalk for Chanel, and was even the muse for Gucci’s autumn/winter 2011 collection.

3. Bethany Cosentino

If you’re a fan of lo-fi surf pop music, then you’re probably well aware of Bethany Cosentino from the Los Angeles band Best Coast. Her style errs on the side of hipster and embodies the relaxed Californian lifestyle. Her laidback style attracted the attention of Urban Outfitters, who teamed up with Cosentino to create a collection of vintage-inspired pieces that was released earlier this year.

4. Zooey Deschanel

While she’s recently gained popularity for starring in the television series The New Girl, let’s not forget that Zooey Deschanel is also a talented musician. Her style is quirky with distinct retro influences. There’s seemingly little difference between her on-screen persona and off-screen style, which means there are plenty of opportunities to take inspiration from this stylish musician and actress.

5. Beyoncé Knowles

One of the most successful singers of today, Beyoncé has also reached style icon status. While her music videos often embody bootylicious chic and her red carpet looks are all about designer glamour, her street style looks are where you really get a feel for her sense of personal style.

6. Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift is at the top of the charts and the top of her fashion game. This well-dressed songstress’s fashion sense has really come of age and she is hardly ever snapped in a less than stylish outfit. Whether she’s on the red carpet or on the street, her outfits are often ones to emulate.

7. Claire Boucher

Synth-pop musician Claire Boucher, aka Grimes, is a source of inspiration for the alterna-fashion set. Her style is hard to pin down, and can be described as eclectic at best. Think brightly coloured hair and a mish-mash of girly to grunge styling. She’s been photographed by Hedi Slimane for Dazed & Confused magazine and has even attended New York fashion week.
