It's bad luck to bring peacock feathers indoors by the way! When I was little now and again my mother would let me hold and touch the three Prince of Wales ostrich feathers that she kept for donkeys years in a drawer. She had been due to be presented at court in the 1920's ( this was in England by the way where we lived) . Instead she had had s baby! You wore them at the back of the ahead tucked into a headband worn across the forehead. They lasted years kept carefully wrapped in tissue.
