1 Jackets, Jackets, Jackets

Light jackets are basically my go-to item of clothing for any outfit. I love oversized denim and plaid shirts because you can wear them over almost any shirt. They’re so versatile! Dark green and camouflage jackets are also super trendy for fall and look great with almost anything! Jackets and oversized shirts are some of the quickest and easiest ways to update your style!

Frequently asked questions

2 Grease Lightning!

Disco pants are my secret style tip. They’re starting to become more popular in all department stores, but they’re super big in the fashion blog world! Don't know what they are? They're the pants Sandy wears in the last scene of Grease and they are so (surprisingly!) comfortable! They can be worn with an old outfit you’d usually wear with jeans and add new life to it. They’re my style staple, because they make you look cute and stylish while you also feel really comfortable!

3 Pop of Color

I can’t even tell you the number of boring, monochromatic outfits that can be made brand new with a simple pop of color. I personally like bright colored belts, a cute purse, or even a simple pair of ballet flats as a pop of color, but any accessory will do! They can completely change a simple dress into an adorable outfit and are usually cheap and easy to find! Warning: don’t wear too many pops of color; you don't want to look like a highlighter!

4 Baby, It’s Cold

This tip is more for the colder months, unless you’re someone who lives in a warm environment and can still rock hats and scarves without sweating to death, and if so, I envy you. Hats not only add something new to your outfit, they also work wonders in covering up bad hair days! Scarves are miracle workers because they simultaneously keep you warm in the cold and make you look put-together! I never leave the house without a hat or scarf (or both!) in the winter!

5 Dresses

If you’re like me, you tend to save dresses for special occasions. When I’m in a style rut, I like to pull out and make them more casual. I’ll add anything from an over-sized denim shirt to a cute belt to dress them down for everyday life. I also love throwing t-shirts or sweaters over them to turn the dress into a skirt, and no one is the wiser! Discovering this simple tip made me feel like I had a whole new wardrobe; I hope it does the same for you!

6 Switch up Your Make up

I can’t tell you what a red lip will do when you’re in a style funk. It spices up a whole look! If red lips aren’t your thing, try anything that is different from your normal makeup routine! If you’re not a makeup pro, turn to YouTube! You’ll have a new makeup look to try in a matter of minutes, and who knows, it might be your new favorite!

7 Find a Style Crush

Celebrities are the perfect people to turn to for style inspiration. They (almost) always look adorable and are photographed just as often. You’ll be surprised how much time you can spend searching for that certain white t-shirt Mila Kunis wore in Friends With Benefits (don’t ask). Celebrities’ outfits are the perfect place to look for inspiration when you’re stuck in a rut!

8 Mix It up!

Take two or three of your go-to outfits and mix them up to create new outfits entirely! It’s such an easy trick that is often overlooked! It’s also probably the thriftiest way to get out of a style rut. You get new outfits without spending a penny - what could be better?

9 Ask a Friend!

Your friends probably have a slightly different style from you, right? Let them pick out something for you that they would wear! If they want, you can reciprocate. You get a free stylist out of the deal, and you may even find a new style you’re obsessed with!

These are just a few tips to help you get out of your style rut! Do you have any tips? I’d love to read about them in the comments!
