Because of her popularity in Paris at the time, women wanted to emulate her and look like her. After her tan skin became known, having sun kissed skin was all the rage in Paris in that time. This was unusual because up to that time, having pale skin was more common and considered more elegant than tan skin.

Her Lucky Number Was 5

It makes sense that Chanel named her most popular perfume Chanel No. 5 because 5 is her lucky number. Not only did she name her perfume after this number, but also released it on the 5th day of the 5th month in 1922. When designing the bottle for her signature perfume, she went against the popularity of extravagant bottles. Chanel wanted people to focus on the perfume and the scent rather than what the bottle looked like. And it paid off because Chanel No. 5 is still one of the most popular scents today.

love it so much

Chanel - erm, think again Gabrielle was a Nazi sympathiser and a thoroughly unpleasant individual. Yes, she was very clever and an opportunist but to say she's a role model for anything other than hard work and ingenuity... No mention of the iconic 2.55 bag, the reason for the matelassee stitching, or the chain and leather strap. No mention of her signature colour palette or her use of jersey.

I think her dark, personal, life overshadowed her accomplishments. Call me judgmental, but no matter how hard I try, every time I see a Channel No. 5, I cant shake up Nazi images out of my head....

She is my fashion icon my wardrobe consists of alot of black

She is my fashion icon

I'm named after the her couldn't have picked a better role model

Thanks. Is always a joy to know a bit more about Coco. She is one of the rare wonders the world gave us.

Love Chanel :)

She was also a Nazi sympathizer and spy, and slept with any man who she thought could help her get ahead. Not someone to idolize.
