1. Do the Hanger Trick

This probably seems like a trick that everyone’s heard of by now, but you’d be surprised by the amount of people who haven’t heard of it yet. It’s simple: put all of your clothes on the clothing rack in one direction, and when you put them back on the rack, put them on in the opposite direction. It’ll quickly show you the clothes that you aren’t wearing and will make cleaning out your closet that much easier.

2. Set the Mood

Cleaning out your closet isn’t necessarily a fun activity, unless that’s your thing. If you’re like me and you don’t always find it fun, make it an event. Turn on some music and dance while you’re cleaning. It will make the time go by faster, and it will put you in a happy mood that will encourage you to keep cleaning!

3. Ask Yourself the Question

There comes a time in the closet cleaning process that you need to ask yourself the most important question. “Have I worn this in the past year?” If the answer’s no, it’s time to throw it in the “donate” pile. Of course, there could be other reasons that you haven’t worn it in the past year, but if there really isn’t any reason you haven’t worn it besides the fact that you don’t want to, donate it.

4. Get Your Friends Involved

Make a night of it! Invite your friends over, get some snacks, turn on some music, and have some fun with it! Try on your clothes for your friends and decide what should stay and what should go. Cleaning has never been so much fun!

5. Find an Organization Set-up You Love

When you have a plan that works for you, organizing isn’t work, but it’s something you enjoy and look forward to. Go to Target and find organization units that will work perfectly in your closet. You won’t regret looking at your closet when you’ve found a method that works for you.

6. Do the Post- It Trick

If the hanger trick isn’t necessarily your thing, try this instead. Put post-its on each piece of clothing in your closet. Take the post-it after you’ve worn it. By the time you’re spring-cleaning, you’ll have all of the clothes you’re donating picked out for you. It will ultimately save you so much time!

7. Get Shelf Dividers

Shelves are a great way to get more space in your closet; however, things can get messy quickly when you have them. Get shelf dividers to prevent a mess from happening. It will make everything look so much nicer and clean that your closet will look better than ever before!
