Every good outfit starts with what you wear underneath. A proper bra could make you look a lot slimmer and improve your posture. Your underwear plays a big part too. Tight dresses can look quite disastrous without the right pair of underwear. So pay attention to picking out the right kind of undergarments before anything else.
Now, I’m not telling you to wear turtle necks and stockings all year round, but some things are best left to the imagination. For example, if you’re planning on going short, go for a neck line that doesn’t show your cleavage. And if you're going for a deep v-necked dress, make sure it's at least knee length. Keep it classy!
Instead of blindly following trends, choose clothing that suits your body type. Things that look good on the runway or your favorite celebrity may not produce the same results when worn by you. So do some research on your body type and dress accordingly.

I’ve fallen victim to this before. I look at a dress or a skirt hanging all pretty on the rack, and buy it even if I'm warned that it can't be exchanged because it's on sale. HUGE MISTAKE! Always take those extra few minutes to try something before you buy it. You'll be surprised at how different some things can look on you.

Your body shape also comes into effect when you are choosing a bag. A handbag doesn’t make you look slimmer per se but if you choose the right shape and size, it can flatter your body type. For example if you’re curvier, a structured handbag would look a lot better than a big hobo tote. If you’re a petite woman, avoid oversized bags and opt for something petite instead.
No matter how many tips and trends there are, always remember to dress for yourself and no one else.
