7 plus Size Outfits That We Totally Love Right Now ...

By Kati9 Comments

Plus size outfits are getting hot this season! Not only has there been more collections then ever before – even if stores like Mango have announced that everyone over size 12 will need to shop from their plus size outfits – there are some amazing models showing off the looks, too. Here are my favorite plus size looks for 2014!

1 Printed Pants

Yes, plus size outfits can contain prints. Sticking to plain colored trousers is boring, not to mention stuffy during the warmer months. That’s why you absolutely have to snap up a pair of fabric pants with a cute print this season. For the most flattering finish, opt for prints with a dark background and lighter print, and make sure that the pattern or print is small. Bigger prints can be a bit less flattering, although the cut makes all the difference, so try them on! Then throw them on with a black vest top for easy and cute chic.

Frequently asked questions

2 A Black Shirt

Get the rodeo look by teaming a black shirt with see-through panels or sleeves with a pair of great-fitting jeans. High-lo hemlines are staying hot this season, and they are super flattering. I’m collecting shirts that combine that great hemline with other trends such as patterns, sheer panels and block colours, as they are so easy to wear.

3 Peplums

City Chic has some tops with super flattering peplums built-in this season, and you should definitely try one on. For a glamorous look, opt for a top with a sweetheart neckline and peplum combo, or dress up an everyday look with some cut out sections. They look great with jeans and a slick ponytail.

4 Harem Pants

Harem pants are great for staying cool on the beach, and for just lounging around your house in. Last season was all about the block colored pants, bur prints have infiltrated the trend this year, and it's supercute. Try teaming a colorful printed pair with a tucked-in vest and wedges, or adding a silk cami and heels for a night out. However you wear them, you’ll be comfortable and cool, and right on trend. Double points if you can find harem pants in a geometric print – it’s a look that’s right off the catwalk.

5 Retro Swimwear

Plus size collections have the best swimwear by far this season. While the celebrities are worrying about their barely-there bikinis, models were strutting their stuff in retro inspired one-pieces and tankinis, worn with flip-flops, wedges and wide-brimmed hats. Keep it classic by opting for a polka dot costume, a straw hat and a slick of bright red lippie. Now you just need an ice cream!

6 Oversized Jumpers

Worried that an oversized jumper won’t suit your shape? Worry not. Opt for jumpers that have a loose hemline, but remain slim-fitting across the chest and arms. That doesn’t mean that you want them to be skin tight, just not loose enough to dangle. Jumpers with sheer sections or sequins will be hot for seasons to come, and they’ll look amazing with jeans or leather trousers.

7 Playsuits

My absolute favourite plus size outfits this season have been the bold playsuits. From bright red all-in-ones to neon yellows and oranges and even playsuits designed to look like seperates, they are everywhere this season. For a daytime look, try wearing with nude lipstick and loose hair. For the evening, just add bangles, red lipstick and throw your hair up into a ponytail or updo.

These plus size outfits have been so fun to find! There is definitely a lot more choice on the high street and the catwalk this season, regardless of your size. The key is to choose pieces that you totally love and that fit well enough to love you best. Which plus size outfits are you lusting after right now?
