The ideal swimsuits for summer 2014 are those that show off your shape to best advantage. If you tend to go with a bandeau style, try an asymmetrical this year. If you only do solids, take a print out for a swim. Interesting necklines, cleverly placed ruching, and taut tummies are the keywords for sizzling swimsuits for summer 2014.

1. Escape Tummy-Control One-Piece by Miraclesuit
A combination of a great slimming effect, unusual detail, and dazzling color makes this among the best of swimsuits for summer 2014. The incredibly flattering neckline and ruching will emphasis the bust line and give you a teeny-tiny waist. This color will pop like crazy against a dark skin tone, so fair-skinned girls; break out the faux-tan before you hit the sand and sun. You can hook this Miraclesuit at Macy’s.
2. Printed Tie-Back Halter One-Piece by MARC by Marc Jacobs
I’m not the first in line for a printed swimsuit, but this microfiber one-piece is just too pretty to pass up. I like the scoop back with center tie, and the halter neckline which ties behind the neck. They’re calling this color 'pop pink' and a zoom view shows some orange, navy and cranberry shades. Head over to Bergdorf Goodman and be pretty in pink.
3. V-Neck Maillot by Carmen Marc Valvo
If the designer's name sounds familiar, it’s because he created Katie Couric’s crystal beaded wedding dress in 2014. Here, he gives us a beautiful flattering microfiber ruched one-piece swimsuit in fuchsia. The back is simply gorgeous, with wide straps and ruching reminiscent of an evening gown. See it at Neiman Marcus.
4. Leopard-Print Wrapped One-Piece by Gottex
If leopard prints could talk, they would borrow the Michael Corleone quote from The Godfather Part 3: “Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in!” That’s just how it goes with leopard prints and while they may fall out of favor now and then, don’t throw them away because you know they’ll be coming back strong. Gottex make this one-piece with ruching and a V-neck to flatter any figure. A nice surprise: the back is all black. At Bergdorf Goodman but go get it now, because like the back view, it might get scooped up.
5. Tunisia Strapless Side-Zip Maillot by Michael Kors
Any redheads reading this? You know we look great in shades of green (purple, black, charcoal grey, navy and white), but brown is a stunning color on gals with auburn tresses. You might want to trot over to Macy’s and catch this faux-wrap ruched swimsuit with an unusual side zipper detail.
6. Lace-up Halter Maillot by Michael Kors
Take the plunge if you dare in this microfiber deep halter neckline one-piece. I love the gold chain lace-up detail. The halter clasps around the neck rather than ties and the back has a nice scoop effect. I’ve seen this suit in a suntan color and it doesn’t make half the impact the white suit does. A typically well designed suit by Michael Kors and you can shop for it at Neiman Marcus.
7. Portofino Plunge L Space Swimwear by Monica Wise
Here’s an interesting suit with a plunging V neckline that features three center fasteners. The back has an interesting woven center panel and a low cut scoop bottom and the halter top ties behind the neck. Neiman Marcus is calling this color peacock, and it's such a flattering color.
All of these suits have one important theme; giving you a great hour glass figure and concealing bits you’re not too crazy about. Did you find your shapely summer swimsuit among these?
