7 Party Dress Styles You Will Want to Rock This Coming Festive Season ...

Now that the party season is slowly creeping upon us, many of us are thinking about being the 'belle of the ball' with our party frocks and I wanted to share some of the best party dress styles you will want to rock this coming festive season. The type of dress you wear will also depend on the type of party you're going to but who doesn't want to dress up in their finest at this time of year! So if you're stuck and in need of a little inspiration, or you just like looking at dresses like me, here are some fabulous party dress styles for this coming party season.

1 LBD

Who doesn't love the little black dress or own one or two for that matter? The LBD is a wardrobe staple and so versatile for cocktail parties or any party for that matter. It's one of my favourite party dress styles. Whenever you're in doubt, the LBD is your go to gal. Reliable, dependable, versatile and slimming. - what more can you ask for? You can often accessorise your little black dress which makes it so versatile. Whether it's with statement jewellery or a colourful scarf, there are so many ways to jazz up your LBD to avoid the "she wore that to the last party" mutterings behind your back.

Frequently asked questions

2 The Roaring 20s

Why not go a little 1920s and opt for the 'flapper girl' look? The shops have been awash with Gatsby inspired frocks over the last few months and if you want to channel your inner 1920's chick, this is a great look to go for. There are some fabulous 1920s-inspired dresses on the high street and online and there are also tops and skirts for a mix and match affair. They're also an investment piece that won't date. Be warned though, they can be a little on the heavy side with all the embellishments and beading but hey, so you get a workout while you wear it!

3 Lovely in Lace

I love lace. Who doesn't! A lace dress is another classy and sexy number to go for this coming party season. Another great thing about lace is it's timeless, so a lace frock is another investment piece and one that you can pull out of the wardrobe year after year and accessorise as you see fit. Another great thing about lace is that you can tease with a little flesh, not too much, just a little. So whether it's black lace, red lace, cream lace or any other colour lace for that matter, a lace dress is another fabulous style to rock this festive season.

4 Feminine and Floral

'Tis the season when the Jacquard print dresses are out in full bloom. I am a big fan of floral in pretty much anything and dresses are no exception to the rule. Whether you're going for smaller prints or more grandiose flowers, floral dresses can look great for the evening and they can also pack a sunshine punch in the middle of winter.

5 Floor Length and Fabulous

If you would like to go for something that packs a real party punch, then a floor length dress should do the trick. Again, it depends on what the occasion is but if it calls for something that little bit more formal, then go for a floor length frock. Nothing screams glamour more than a floor length gown or a marvellous maxi.

6 Short and Sweet

Perhaps you would like to show off your gorgeous legs with a shorter A-line dress. Short doesn't have to scream harlot though. A great way to wear a shorter dress and to look classy, is to wear it with opaque tights. It will keep you much warmer than going out in thin stockings on these cold winter evenings, or heaven forbid, bare legged (wow, I'm beginning to sound like my mother!)

7 Sexy Separates

Perhaps you would rather go for separates instead this party season. This is one way to avoid the chances of someone else turning up to the party in the exact same dress - embarrassing! Mix and match with separates for an individual touch of party glamour. For example, team an accordion pleated skirt or pencil skirt with a gorgeous sequin top.

We're all getting ready for the party season and I always like to see what kinds of dresses and outfits people will be wearing. We're literally spoilt for choice with the selections out there and whilst there used to be just one style for people to wear, pretty much anything goes now...well, within reason! Which styles will you be wearing this party season?
