What's your favorite type of music?

1. Marni for H&M

Marni’s strong contemporary aesthetic sets it apart from the crowd. It was with great surprise (and delight!) that I found out that they would be teaming up with chain store H&M to design a capsule collection. They even roped in the ever so chic Sofia Coppola to shoot the campaign film! The collection will feature Marni’s signature graphic patterns but at a more affordable price point. Pieces will range from $10 to $199.

2. Mary Katrantzou for Topshop

The Mary Katranzou for Topshop designer collaboration has probably been one of the most anticipated collections of the year so far. When it launched, items promptly flew off the shelves. The collection is similar to Katrantzou’s own line, in that it features her bold and hyperrealist prints. The quality of the fabrics and prints are quite high-end, and as a result the prices for some pieces to reach into the hundreds of dollars.

3. Jason Wu for Target

The most appealing thing about the Jason Wu for Target collaboration is that nothing is over $60. The clothes are all designed with Jason Wu’s signature feminine aesthetic in mind. The collection features both clothing and accessories. Unfortunately, due to its immense popularity and affordability, the collection quickly sold out both in stores and online.

4. Manolo Blahnik for J.Crew

Manolo Blahnik shoes are some of the most covetable in the world. This iconic footwear brand will be teaming up with J.Crew for a Fall 2012 line. Before I get your hopes up, however, note that these shoes won’t be priced much differently to plain old Manolos. Instead the shoes for this line will come in a range of prints and finishes that are exclusively sold through J.Crew.

5. Christian Siriano for Payless Fall 2012

Christian Siriano has a longstanding collaboration with Payless. The Fall 2012 collection features a range of striking silhouettes, with plenty of glitz an glamour thrown into the mix. There’s plenty of glitter, velvety textures, and faux animal skin. Definitely keep your eyes peeled and your wallets ready for when this collection drops later this year.

6. Alberta Ferretti for Macy’s

Alberta Ferretti is teaming up with Macy’s to create a collection for the store’s Impulse department. The 30 piece collection is slated to feature a range of summery dresses and cool separates. Pieces will range in price from $49 to $119. This designer collaborations is set to hit stores on April 17th.

7. Doo.Ri for Macy’s

Designer collaborations can be a great way for up and coming designers to get more exposure. The Doo.Ri for Macy’s collection launched earlier this month and contains many highly wearable pieces. Macy’s have claimed to want to launch at least 5 different designer collaborations per year. This is no easy feat for the store, but it is great news for shoppers!

A good designer collaboration should reflect and respect the brand’s aesthetic. These designer collaborations are ones that are already on the radar, but I’m sure we’ll hear of many more as the year progresses. What are your thoughts on these designer collaborations?
