1. Think Long and Light
When the weather starts to cool down a bit, some great summer to fall looks begin with a great trench coat. I was thrilled when Lindsay pulled a designer camel colored trench for me to try on. A trench had been on my list of coats to buy since early in Spring. She chose an adorable designer coat that was marked down hundreds of dollars less than it was before. With some unique black trim and a sleek popped collar I felt like a million bucks!
2. These Boots Are Made for Walkin’
I’ll admit I have a thing for cowboy and motorcycle boots and when I saw the worn in, rope tied, rustic pair standing out amidst a row of heels and ballerina flats I knew I needed to have them. With fall approaching, boots become the new flats when the weather gets rough. Whether you’re looking for a simple pair of black leather boots or something more edgy with studs on them, boots are a perfect way to tie in the last of summer’s cute skirts and flowy dresses. I slipped on my favorite new cowboy boots and thought long and hard about grabbing a guitar and sipping some sweet tea on a porch on my way out.
Frequently asked questions
3. I’m Blushing Mr. Grey
Light blush tones and greys are all the rage for fall. Incorporating some delicate summer pinks with grey jeans or a grey handbag will not only transition you into fall, but well into winter! Soft silk blouses and scarves with heavier textured coats, pants and boots give you the refined rocker look. You’ll be so New York Upper East Side chic.
4. Back to School
Whether you’re going back to school or not, you can feel that way by incorporating some of your adorable light summer dresses with menswear inspired Oxford flats, a fitted blazer or dark-ankle bootie. Throw on your real backpack or a mini backpack instead of your regular purse and head out the door. I can already smell the fresh scent of pencils and notebook paper.
5. Tighten up
Tights and hosiery have become a staple over the years. When you still want to wear some of your summer skirts and shorts why not pair them with some sheer black nylons or detailed tights? I couldn’t help thumbing through some of the cutest tights while walking through T.J. Maxx and Marshalls. Who knew they have it all there and so much cheaper than department stores! I’m sold.

6. Forever Summer Sandals
Just because summer may be ending doesn’t mean you have to say goodbye to all of your cute sandals just yet. Pair a cute pair of sandals with a fitted, little black dress and blazer for an end of summer look. If the weather stays mild where you live, you can wear skinny jeans, a basic white t-shirt, fitted blazer and a pair of sandals as not only a summer to fall look, but an all year look.
7. Bag It
I love handbags and T.J. Maxx and Marshalls had a huge selection of marked down designer bags to choose from. Jackpot. Cross body bags and mini backpacks are all the rage for fall, which I love. Any bag that I don’t have to fuss with and keeps my laptop, cosmetics and wallet in place is my kind of bag. Bags in rich jewel tones, lavenders, mustards and emeralds are going to be huge this fall season.
All in all, shopping at T.J. Maxx and Marshalls with Lindsay Albanese was amazing! I had never been in before, but now having had a taste of my two favorite things - fashion and bargains - I’m going to be spending a whole lot more time there from now on! I can absolutely say I’m ready to transition from summer to fall. What are some of your favorite bargain shopping experiences? Leave a comment and let me know.
