1. Chic Wool Coats
For her last appearance before her due date, Kate Middleton went for a simple, classic look. Her custom Alexander McQueen light wool crepe coat featured an oversized collar, three-quarter sleeves and slimming side darts, and she rocked it along with a matching hat by Jane Corbett and a very dapper looking William in his regal dress. Well, it was Queen Elizabeth’s birthday parade!
2. Animal Print
Kate even made animal print look chic. She attended the Princess Cruises ship-naming ceremony (yep, really) on June 13th, and did her Royal duty by smashing a bottle of Champagne against the ships hull. Despite being heavily pregnant, Kate kept cool in a linen and rayon blend Dalmatian print coat from Hobbs – get thee to the High Street!
3. Vintage
Kate went for a very different look for the 60th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation. Her blush lace dress has a high neck, empire waist and fringe trim, giving it a very vintage feel, and Kate teamed it with a Jenny Peckham coat with three-quarter length sleeves, a blush clutch and some sparkly jewelry. That pillar-box hat finishes it off perfectly. Want to steal some of Kate’s style this summer? Go for shades of peach or blush for those formal get-togethers.
4. Neon
Kate made sure she stayed on trend at Buckingham Palace’s annual garden party! This neon yellow coat was designed by Emilia Wickstead, and sold for around $1,826. It was quick to sell out after the Duchess was snapped in it, but there are a few for sale on eBay, although you should expect to pay around double the initial value. Kate completed the look with some cute pearl earrings, a Russell and Bromley Park Avenue clutch, nude heels and a cream hat. Glam.
5. Pastels
Everyone was after the first glimpse of Kate’s bump, and it came in this striking mint Mulberry coat on April 21st. The frayed cotton coat sold for $3000, but again sold out soon after Kate was seen in it – if nothing else, Kate’s pregnancy has given the fashion industry an amazing boost! Kate paired the dress with nude pumps and bold green Amethyst earrings, along with a gold clutch. Accessorizing at its very best.
6. Modern
Back in December, Kate was due to present the Lifetime Achievement Award at the BBC’s Sports Personality of the Year awards. It was doubtful whether she’d make it, after being hospitalized with severe sickness, but all eyes were sure to be on the Duchess after her early pregnancy was announced – and boy did she look great! Kate ditched her usual style for a glamorous floor-length Alexander McQueen gown, featuring peplum waist detailing and a thigh-high split. Stunning!
7. Silk
Kate Middleton really managed to hide her baby bump here! She attended the National Portrait Gallery on January 11th to unveil her portrait, and her outfit choice was simply divine. This Whistles Sofie Rae dress is from the high street, and the burgundy silk really showed off Kate’s coloring. She kept the rest of her look simple, with black pumps and a black clutch. I love this look, maternity or not!
There’s no denying that Kate Middleton has done maternity fashion well! Despite hundreds of cameras following her since the pregnancy was first announced, Kate has looked dignified and styled in every photo, and remained unfazed by the attention. What was your favorite maternity look? I think mine has to be the ballgown…
